The Secrets from a Coach podcast hosted by wellness coach Debbie Green at Wishfish and TEDx speaker Laura Thomson-Staveley at Phenomenal Training has kicked off the year by setting motivating goals and honing an optimistic mindset in January, working smarter and being effective in a hybrid working world in February, and how to manage feeling burnt out and overwhelmed in March. Each episode gives practical tips and techniques to help you be your best.

Debbie Green, wellness coach and podcast host, said: “Our podcast topics give listeners a sense of resilience, kindness and optimism about the year ahead. We’re only in month three of a new year and already regularly hearing the words ‘burnt out’ and ‘overwhelmed’. We want to shine a light on the struggles many of us are facing daily and explore how we can protect ourselves and others from experiencing this at work and home. Too many of us forget to make the most out of our year, and we talk about why it’s so important to stop and think about what we want to achieve. By listening to our podcasts, we want our listeners to thrive, not just survive.”

January: Motivating goals & optimistic mindsets

The Secrets from a Coach team kicks off the year by taking a dive into how best to set motivating goals that focus on the opportunities all around us. By adopting an optimistic mindset, we can overcome any challenges that our own personal saboteurs want to throw our way.

The key to creating great goals is to first establish where you are now and where you want to be.  Then with a plan you can break down your overarching goals into smaller, manageable tasks to tackle one at a time.

Having an optimistic mindset and a can-do approach helps you strive towards your goals. An abundance mindset points the focus to growth and success, rather than limitations and obstacles. So, if along the way we’re faced with an obstacle we can view it as an opportunity for learning and innovation, so we can approach our goals with confidence and positivity.

February: Effective hybrid working

In February, Debs and Lau explored how we can be effective in a hybrid working world, manage our time efficiently and get the best out of ourselves and our teams. Time management has always been a ‘hot’ topic. Now more than ever being able to navigate our way through a mixture of in-person and virtual worlds is a skill we all need to master as it becomes our new normal.

It’s important to establish a daily routine that incorporates both remote and in-office work hours. Knowing what time you can allocate to key activities, such as meetings, focused work and breaks (super important to remember!) will help you to thrive. Empowering yourself to set boundaries, communicating your intentions when it comes to your schedule, availability and progress on tasks is key.

Special guest, Kate Maddison-Greenwell shares her research which suggests 76% of managers do not feel equipped with the skills for hybrid working. Balancing flexibility with the need to align and organise a team, Kate shares her framework which sums up the best practices that enable hybrid success. A must listen.

March: How to avoid burnout

Shining a light on burnout and overwhelm in March, the team explores how you can protect yourself and others from experiencing it. They discuss how to stay mentally well when your workload is high and how to have proactive conversations around workload.

Special guest, Alexis Neighbour, shares her observations about burnout indicators and measures to overcome them. It’s important to identify tasks that are overwhelming, understanding your priorities and being clear on what’s expected of you in your role.

The art of delegation and how it can significantly help alleviate overwhelm is discussed too. Prioritising our wellbeing and productivity starts with gathering the information that identifies what work may be able to be distributed among others. Being able to delegate less critical tasks to others means you’re able to focus on your priorities.

Lasting a snackable 30 minutes, making it ideal for the commute, lunch break or even a well-deserved break for self-care and development, Secrets from a Coach offers practical learning based on current realities. A brand-new episode is published every Friday lunchtime, focusing on positive actions to help you thrive and maximise your potential in the ever-evolving workplace, and in life.

This autumn, the Secrets from a Coach podcast hosted by wellness coach Debbie Green at Wishfish and TEDx speaker Laura Thomson-Staveley at Phenomenal Training take a look at the importance of stretching out of our comfort zones, how to take genuine approach to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and understanding our identity or ‘sense of self’ at work.

Debbie Green, wellness coach and podcast host, said: “I’m excited about our podcast topics for this autumn – which include practical advice and brilliant insights from a series of guest speakers too. We wrap up the year by taking a deep dive into understanding our worth – and how we measure our intangible impact to get the best out of our working lives. Tuning in is a no brainer for people who want improved wellness and success at work – listen today!”

October: Stretching our comfort zones

This month is all about stretching our comfort zones. Pushing ourselves to boost confidence, energy and pride, but without feeling negative pressure and stress. From setting a Personal Development Plan (PDP) which is a great way to set stretch goals that enable a sense of progress over time, to tips and ideas for regaining our spark at work.

Debs and Lau focus on the upside of familiarity in how it enables confidence and innovation rather than prompting a move to greener pastures. Like any successful long-term relationship, keeping the spark going takes honesty, commitment and a desire to make time count.

They also look at how best to steady our nerves and channel short-term discomfort into long-term growth and confidence. Guests include performance coach Karl Green, who shares his tips from a life on the stage for accessing a performance mindset, and practical advice for those stretch moments. The team also hears from Damien Hoadley-Brown who took the decision to move from a corporate project management role in a global PLC to teach his passion for Tai Chi as his full-time occupation.

November: Diversity & inclusion (D&I) in the workplace

Debs and Lau explore how we can take a genuine approach to D&I in our workplaces to create a thriving culture together. Equity, diversity and inclusion are big words for society in general which need to be carefully navigated to future-proof a successful team culture. To be different is to be human but we humans don’t always make it easy. The team shares top tips for leaders both current and aspiring about how to practise and encourage others to be inclusive.

Guests include the award-winning Nzinga Orgill MBA, CEO & Founder at RaCExpert Ltd to discuss practical advice for opening the safe, brave space that is required to be able to solve D&I problems and challenges. Plus, HR D&I expert Kate Maddison-Greenwell who explains how it’s not ‘just a HR thing’ and shares her advice on how to make work cultures more inclusive in practice. Particularly relevant for those organisations who are shifting away from ‘working from home as the default’ towards a more hybrid model.

December: Who I am is how I work

This month Debs and Lau take a deep dive into our identity and sense of self at work. How do we recognise and know our worth – and how do we measure our intangible impact on people and opportunities to get the best out of our working lives.

The team looks at how you keep the spark of excitement and motivation going at work. When the thrill is gone around performance mindset, confidence in your ability and success. What does success look like and how do we get it?

Lasting a snackable 30 minutes, making it ideal for the commute, lunch break or even a well-deserved break for self-care and development, Secrets from a Coach offers practical learning based on current realities. This summer, the Secrets from a Coach podcast hosted by wellness coach Debbie Green at Wishfish and TEDx speaker Laura Thomson-Staveley at Phenomenal Training take a look at ways to succeed as a manager during July, tap into advice from special guests around summer self-care in August and delve into performance management in September.

Debbie Green, wellness coach and podcast host, said: “The summer months are a great opportunity to rest, reset and renew ready for the autumn months ahead. As managers it’s important to regularly check in and look at our approach – and as employees there are always better ways to connect with our managers. All the while, it’s important to make the most of the summer so check out the wellness tips from our special guests too.”

July: The Management Frontier

From handling internal promotion and the challenges of change, to starting out fresh and unlocking the benefits of neurodivergence, being a manager requires a vast and evolving range of skills.

An ideal listen for anyone who is stepping out into new frontiers or is considering whether to go for a promotion to manager. The SFAC team shares simple ways to set your ‘first 90 days’ plan, how to level up your reputation if it is creating a shadow, and tips for focusing attention on the benefits of having an ‘insider’ as the manager.

Having quality conversations – whether handling the challenges of change, raising the topic of under-performance, or approaching a team member who you’ve noticed showing a change in can be a tricky area of management to navigate. The team shares simple ways to dial up emotional intelligence, set the scene for a lean and clean performance conversation, and explain the TALKED approach to checking-in on someone in a caring (not scary) way.

Motivation is the essence that underpins engagement levels – wanting to stay in that organisation and deliver your best. Debs and Lau hear from managers who are starting out and wanting simple advice for structuring a performance-related conversation in a motivating way, to senior leaders wanting to leverage the power of a coaching style in a hybrid, matrix team environment. They also share tips for understanding and planning for the impact of change on teams, keeping people safe along the ups and downs, and putting your own seatbelt on as the manager. Communication, visibility and transparency from managers is how people place their trust in seeing the change through to the end.

August: Summer Sizzler

Debs and Lau are about looking after their mind-health and in August put into practice advice and guidance around self-care and wellbeing. The wider SFAC team shares how you too can sizzle this summer in a special only on YouTube.

Each week they’re joined by a special guest who shares their very own go-to top tips for sizzling up your mind-health and wellbeing this Summer. Whether you’re on the beach, packing your case, about to board a plane or have a beautifully British staycation waiting for you – remember to put your wellness as a priority. So, pull up your deckchair and take 15 minutes to focus on because you’re so worth it.

Plan for recovery time and count down to the break because you’re more likely to honour it

Ep2 – Summer Sizzlers with Mel

Ep3 – Summer Sizzlers With Lindz

Be conscious of Radiators and Drains – connect with people who give you positive energy and lift you up and stay away from those people who drain you.

Ep4 – Summer Sizzlers With Karl and Debs

Connect with others – it’s important to be with people who fill you with joy. And, listen to music to lift you up. To help with a challenging or emotional situation – music can help you tap into more positive feelings – and your body will respond too.

September: Performance Management

To some people ‘performance management’ has negative connotations, often it’s associated with less than good performance at work. For others, it offers a chance to discuss the status quo, take stock of achievements and gather valuable feedback. Working with managers, leaders and employees over the last 20 years, the SFAC team knows that performance management is always a hot topic. In September, they explore the different elements that enable us to perform at our best.

With guest interviews about maximising performance potential, Lau and Debs explore what you need to do to prepare for a performance conversation as both a manager and employee. They share top tips on giving great feedback and how to manage performance fairly and consistently. So, tune in and explore ways to dust off the murkiness surrounding it and instead bring a breath of fresh air into ‘performance management’.

A Wellness Coaching Course empowers us to maintain sharpness and good health.

As we shift our focus from limitations to possibilities, we come to appreciate the remarkable potential within us as individuals.

“What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”
Erin Hanson

As we progress into the next chapter of our empathetic existence, with wellness as our core value, we must contemplate how we can harmonize our hearts, minds, and souls – a wellness coaching course is a good place to start.

Once we boldly prioritize ourselves and be at the forefront of our lives, it may take a few weeks to establish a rhythm of examining what brings us happiness, joy, and passion.

We must also reflect on how we can positively impact and determine the kind of influence we desire. To do this, we must rediscover our true selves and invest effort into exploring these aspects of our existence.

According to Erin Hanson, the ability to “fly” is determined by various factors, including your personality, mindset, determination, dedication, and belief in yourself. Begin by visualizing your desires with optimism and enthusiasm.

Adopt an “achievement mode” mindset and stay focused by engaging all your senses – hearing, touching, smelling, seeing, and feeling.

Make your visualization a reality and discover your personal Life Coach who will guide you and help you surpass your expectations. They will assist you in reaching your full potential by pushing you beyond your comfort zone.

Taking the first step towards self-discovery requires courage, but once you begin, you’ll realize that a slight nudge is all it takes to get the ball rolling and ignite the momentum needed for personal growth. Who wouldn’t want that?

Having an understanding of how curiosity and creativity contribute to your ability to achieve great things is crucial, as well as having enough self-care to have the bravery to pursue those goals. Every morning, ask yourself how you will present yourself that day.

With determination, purpose, enthusiasm, faith, and a growing sense of self-assurance, you will progress towards your aspirations. Starting with an initial vision of what could be, you transition into the reality of what currently exists. This allows you to align your thoughts, physical presence, and inner being.

Amazing! You are capable of achieving this.

You can enhance your connection with well-being by taking a Wellness Coaching Course.

It is common for us to overlook our relationship with ourselves, which can directly impact our overall wellness. Therefore, it is crucial to set healthy boundaries that promote feelings of safety and productivity. Creating an environment that fosters personal growth and success rather than mere survival is paramount.

We must safeguard our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being by preventing negative thoughts and detrimental self-dialogue from taking control.

Sometimes, we may feel disconnected from our authentic selves and the persona we present to the world. It is crucial to bridge this gap and ensure alignment between the two in order to live a fulfilling life that resonates with our true identity. However, this task can be challenging as we often encounter unforeseen situations that deviate from our initial plans.

Our journey that we had prepped and packed for is suddenly taken away, and we find that we may have to head in another direction. As my colleague Laura Thomson-Staveley always reminds us, we must be just like the fox and be foxy in our approach, so as humans, we can also adapt to our surroundings with ease and confidence. We can choose to reset or take a setback.

We all desire success and accomplishing something that gives us a sense of worth and importance. It is necessary to allocate some time for introspection, considering our triumphs, setbacks, and the knowledge gained. These experiences provide valuable lessons that can be repeated if they have been beneficial or avoided if they have resulted in failure.

Wisdom is a valuable asset that can accompany us throughout our journey in life. A crucial aspect of this journey is to be mindful of the language we use when speaking to ourselves. Do we employ words and phrases that uplift us, allowing us to soar high like a bird, or do we use language that drags us into a pit of hopelessness?

As Wellness Coaches, we work with people to ensure that the relationship you create for you keeps you well, and I invite you to think about the following seven things:

  1. Make sure you know your limits – what you will tolerate and won’t.
  2. Ensure that the expectations you set for yourself are feasible and achievable.
  3. Use positive language to foster a hopeful perspective.
  4. Stay above the “drama” by concentrating on your purpose, intentions, and goals.
  5. Instead of dwelling on the past, always look ahead – even if it’s just for the next 10 minutes.
  6. Remember that you have the power to choose, and creating various options for yourself is essential.
  7. Release any thoughts or beliefs hindering your progress and shift your focus towards each new day.

Taking care of your overall well-being is essential for your wellness. Nurturing your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health is a continuous source of fulfilment! The bond you establish with yourself is eternal, so select a path that brings you contentment and bliss and enriches your knowledge that you can pass down to future generations.

Understanding our own self is a challenging task that we often delay for various reasons. Each of us is on a personal journey, and having a Wishfish Wellness Coach to confide in without fear of judgment, is truly invaluable. They will attentively listen to your experiences and unconditionally accept you for who you are.

So to start your journey and to fly high with a sense of lightness and freedom to create and access a wonder of wellness that is right for you, reach out to find out more with a Discovery Call with Wishfish.

Being a Wellness Coach, I understand that our overall health, happiness, mental health, and emotional well-being are crucial in all aspects of our lives, and this is where life coaching courses can help.

When circumstances shift, how can we preserve a feeling of serenity and self-awareness?

One crucial aspect is establishing experiences that bring you happiness rather than suffering. When participating in a life coaching session, you are allowing yourself to contemplate and envision the kind of life you desire for yourself and those in your circle.

Central to this concept is the capacity to come out of a challenging situation in good health, feeling rejuvenated and having a newfound drive to move forward into your unknown future.

It is essential to pause and consider how we can flourish and adopt a more positive perspective on life, and this is precisely where collaborating with a Wishfish Wellness Coach with life coaching courses can have a significant impact.

What is the mechanism behind it?

Our perspective shapes our identity as humans. If we can emanate a sense of warmth, support, affection, concern, and appreciation, we can lead a satisfying existence. However, it is not always effortless to achieve this, as our thoughts can deceive us, leading us to become entangled in the troubles of others. Consequently, we may find ourselves sinking into a state of hopelessness, which is detrimental for all individuals involved.

How can you emit the desired energy that attracts people to you instead of repelling them? Consider the individuals you choose to have around you – do they inspire and motivate you, or do they drain your energy? With whom would you prefer to invest your time?

Initially, it involves recognising your true identity and the impression you make on others. To gain a deeper understanding of yourself, it is crucial to allocate time for introspection and evaluate the positive aspects that contribute to happiness and prosperity in your life.

Engaging in life coaching practices can facilitate acceptance of diversity, and to some degree, adapting to life’s circumstances can alleviate the burden of constantly striving to meet expectations and assist with your personal growth.

Achieving inner peace is a universal goal that requires effort and thoughtful planning. It is essential to take action and develop a meaningful and vibrant plan to attain this state. This plan should encompass both the present and the future, striking a balance between immediate needs and long-term aspirations.

To shape your plan effectively, consider reflecting on six fundamental questions that delve into the depths of your desires and aspirations.

  1. If I envisioned my desires in life, what would they entail?
  2. What prior experiences do I possess? Is there anything else I can acquire knowledge in that would be beneficial? If so, what?
  3. What obstacles might I encounter while striving to achieve my goals? How can I overcome them? Who do I need to collaborate with? What kind of support do I require to surmount any potential challenges?
  4. What should be my initial step to ensure continuous progress?
  5. How can I align my plan with my personal beliefs and values?
  6. How do I analyse my discoveries and devise a plan that suits me best? When should I commence?

Next, you need to consider the concept of generating plenty, have faith that better things are still on the horizon, and then assume responsibility and liability for your own actions. It is something we can all aim for, to establish fresh recollections that we will remember with fondness and appreciation. We must prioritise our well-being and actively embrace the new qualities of our current selves each day.

In the words of Dr Seuss – “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”. So take notice of each moment you create and treasure the good ones. Be your own radiator.

National water retailer Wave is launching two new employee well-being initiatives. New coaching support for new parents at work and a caring app to help support its 320 plus people in all aspects of their caring responsibilities.

Wave has partnered with the company companiions, to provide an app that supports employees with external caring commitments, and Wishfish, a coaching and development provider, to help support employees in adapting to the changes involved with becoming a new parent.

Companiions app allows employees to source emergency caring

The companiions app allows employees to source emergency caring help for family members that they may not always be able to provide themselves, due to their work commitments. The app will support people in balancing work with growing children, aging parents and other unexpected challenges life brings that can lead to high levels of stress.

One example of this is if a relative needs a prescription collecting and delivering to their home. If the employee is in back-to-back meetings, the employee can request a half an hour slot on the app and a ‘companiion’ can go and deliver the medication to their relative.

The app has a rigorous vetting process (including DBS checks plus interviews) for any potential carers and allows users to video call and message their companiion, to provide the reassurance that their loved ones are in safe hands.

Hours of support are purchased by Wave and then banked to be used by employees as and when needed.

Wave understands that people are the driving force behind any business and that prioritising their wellbeing is paramount in building a supported and loyal workforce.

Jane Austin, Director of HR at Wave, said: “At Wave we understand that it can be difficult to juggle caring responsibilities with a career, and that often you can be called on for help when you least expect it. We want our employees to have a safety net in place so that should something happen and they are unable to be there, there is a solution. This will help people to navigate time constraints and ease the pressures of balancing their personal and professional lives”.

Support sessions for new parents.

In their mission to ensure expectant employees feel supported, Wave has also introduced support sessions for new parents.

Wave will provide coaching to parents before, during and after the start of their parenting journey. This ensures the transition from work to home and vice versa is as seamless as possible. Coaching support for new parents at work is available to all parents, including those adopting, and includes maternity and paternity support, preparing to go back to work, and ongoing support upon returning to the workplace.

Wave will also work with managers to ensure their people feel comfortable and able to discuss any issues both before and after maternity and paternity leave.

Debbie Green, Owner and Founder of Wishfish, says: “Wishfish is absolutely delighted to be partnering with Wave in offering coaching support for new parents at work to their people as part of their wider wellbeing initiative. This is such a pivotal time in someone’s career and creating a safe space to explore what this means for someone stepping into this stage of their lives is a real privilege.

“We are a friendly voice and connection, outside of work/family/friends to both parents, and they know that we are there for them. We help with the transition into parenthood and talk through their thoughts and feelings as they leave and embark on a new way of being. We help parents navigate their way through their thinking around how to maintain a career; what life/work now looks like; and equip parents with what they need to ‘hit the ground running’ when they return from their leave.”

Report by That Works For Me

According to a recent report by That Works For Me, 85% of new mothers will leave the full time workforce within three years of becoming a parent. This is largely due to a disconnect between parents and businesses because of ineffective processes, which results in the loss of valuable employees.

Jane continued: “Becoming a parent can be overwhelming and affects everyone differently. At Wave, we believe that every member of our staff is important, so we want to ensure they feel respected and supported through what can be a difficult time in their lives.

“Access to coaching will ensure people return to work fully prepared and supported, resulting in a stronger and healthier working environment. One of Wave’s core values is to ‘succeed together’, so it’s important that everyone feels valued and has access to benefits such as this.”

If you’ve wavered off track slightly or a lot – now is the time to check in on your goals and wellbeing to correct your course and set yourself up to thrive this year.”

The team will also be discussing how to tackle difficult people and conversations, they will be reading four key mindful manager books to help you get ahead and will be noodling into our minds looking at how to manage an optimistic mindset, handling self-doubt and saying no in a positive way.

April: mindful manager

The April four-part series looks at key learnings from four influential mindful manager books. Ideal for those people who don’t have time to read but still want to learn. If you haven’t got time to think about these topics – now is the time to listen in and get a quick digest – with practical skills, tools and strategies to help you.

The books discussed this month include:

Surrounded by Idiots: The Four Types of Human Behaviour (or, How to Understand Those Who Cannot Be Understood) Paperback

– by Thomas Erikson

This book offers a simple, yet ground-breaking method for assessing the personalities of people we communicate with – in and out of the office. Helping you understand yourself better, hone communication and social skills, handle conflict with confidence, improve dynamics with your boss and team, and get the best out of the people you deal with and manage. It’s based on four personality types (Red, Blue, Green and Yellow), and provides insights into how we can adjust the way(s) we speak and share information.

Four Thousand Weeks: Time and how to use it

– by Oliver Burkeman

Four Thousand Weeks is an uplifting, engrossing and deeply realistic exploration of the challenge. Rejecting the futile modern obsession with ‘getting everything done,’ it introduces readers to tools for constructing a meaningful life by embracing rather than denying their limitations.

How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships

– by Leil Lowndes

This book explores how to perfect your people skills in a fun, witty and informative guide, containing 92 little tricks to create big success in personal and business relationships. In How To Talk To Anyone, bestselling relationships author and internationally renowned life coach Leil Lowndes reveals the secrets and psychology behind successful communication.

The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials Into Triumph

– by Ryan Holiday

The book draws its inspiration from stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy of enduring pain or adversity with perseverance and resilience. Stoics focus on the things they can control, let go of everything else, and turn every new obstacle into an opportunity to get better, stronger and tougher. If you’re feeling frustrated, demoralised, or stuck in a rut, this book can help you turn your problems into your biggest advantages.

May: mid-year wellness maintenance check

In May the team takes a beat to assess progress so far this year and what needs to happen next to thrive in 2023. Each episode is joined by a special guest sharing their wisdom, expertise and advice.

Health, fitness and wellness expert, Matt Vale, joins Debs and Lau to discuss how to make the right decisions to consistently maintain your mental and physical wellness. They look at how we can sustain change, achieve goals and get back on track if we’ve lost our way. They’ll give advice about how to overcome a negative mindset, make the right decisions for you and share tools about how to do your own maintenance wellness check.

Lindsey Thompson Wright, joins the second episode this month.

Lindsey Thompson Wright, coach and facilitator, joins the second episode this month to share her advice on keeping fit and well in a corporate environment. Founded in the concepts behind Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis (TA) theory, the team discusses how to look after your health and wellbeing while at work, both in the office or at home, and get the very best out of it. Looking ahead to the Summer and Autumn, they’ll tackle the best ways to deal with different personalities, how to improve the scripts we tell ourselves, and how to implement TA tools for better interactions and outcomes at work.

Jim ‘The Coach Guy’ Totczyk is on a mission

Jim ‘The Coach Guy’ Totczyk is on a mission to provide a better understanding of how to lead a healthy lifestyle, overcome personal challenges, and have better headspaces to improve life/work boundaries. All the while performing at the highest level. His view is that when you look in the mirror – that’s your biggest competition. This episode explores how to overcome restrictive negative thoughts and maintain good boundaries, while living a compassionate and harmonious existence.

Melanie Yea, joins Debs and Lau to explore inner wellness.

Facilitator & NLP Master Practitioner, Melanie Yea, joins Debs and Lau to explore inner wellness from an NLP perspective. How important is it? What are the unhelpful scripts we listen to? How is our inner critic sending us off track? They’ll share tips and tricks about how to dial up your own personal inner coach to live our lives well.

June: you and your mind

Following several recent coaching conversations with GenZ’ers, the team has found a surprisingly low optimistic mindset about their lives and emerging futures. In June, the team looks at why having an optimistic mindset is essential for a happy and healthy life, and how the way you see yourself and your personal level of accountability dramatically impacts wellbeing.

Key topics discussed include how to refocus to an optimistic mindset, handling self-doubt, saying no in a positive way, how best to achieve what you actually want in life, and how to transition from imposter to empowerment.

New Decisions – Time to Trust Yourself

When we talk about personal development coaching from Wishfish, we enable you to trust yourself and make great decisions.

I can hear you asking – ‘ yes, but how exactly does personal development coaching from Wishfish help me with this? How do I choose the right development goals and identify the correct life coach courses?’

The answer is relatively straightforward. We make decisions daily – some we consciously think about and others we don’t. What is important is making the right decision for you.

As humans, we are born to solve problems, and as a Life Coach, when I’m working with people during a coaching session, I know that if someone has a problem/issue, they really do have the solution – you have to dig a little deeper for it.

Rest assured, I know from experience that people come up with a solution to any uncertainty they may be experiencing. And more importantly, it is the right decision for them based on where they are in their life at that moment in time.

As you step into the unknown, it does feel a bit scary, but as the saying goes, ‘magic happens outside of your comfort zone’.

So how can I trust myself?

It starts with having a clear head and being able to trust in yourself and use your intuition and judgement as you explore and look for opportunities to ensure you make the right decision. Reminding yourself of what you are good at, what your strengths are, what talents you have, and what qualities you bring to solve your problem are all within us.

Your inner confidence is there – it always has been – your unhelpful chatter might have quietened it.

So how does personal development coaching from Wishfish help?

In a nutshell, it’s about opening the ‘door of opportunity’, which means taking time to really think about what you want, accepting responsibility for yourself, and creating the path to move on. You have to trust yourself, and because you’ve looked at all the options, you can take that leap of faith and make your life happen.

As a Life Coach, I’m always amazed at how creative, brave and trusting people are of themselves and when they start to achieve what they set out to achieve – they say, ‘I wish I’d taken that chance earlier’. But, hey – hindsight is a wonderful thing, right!?! So, my role in Life Coaching is to bring together the reasonable mind and the emotional mind, which creates the wise mind.

With understanding and wisdom, we can make great decisions because we’ve taken the time to slow down, process our thoughts and feelings, and connect with what we know. Then with confidence and self-belief, you can purposefully practice a new way of being because of the new decisions that you have made.

So if you want to create healthy, happy and safe choices, then you have to be able to think straight – which means you have to quieten the chatter going around and around in your head. How do we do this? I can hear you ask. Well, here is a technique that I use to bring you into the present moment so that you can ‘slow down to go faster’. …..

Step 1

Ground yourself by placing your feet firmly on the floor and then consciously moving your mind down to your feet. Ask yourself – are my feet touching the ground? The answer is yes! So at that moment, you are mindfully present.

Step 2

Breathe – consciously find where your breath is. You are obviously breathing, but deliberately focusing on your breath means that you are bringing your thoughts to your breath and how you breathe. So once again, taking the chatter away from your thoughts and focusing on you at that moment.

Step 3

Take three deep belly breaths, consciously slow your thoughts down, and visualise a quiet space in your head where you can see the door of opportunity. With that calm mind, you can make more rational, helpful, healthy, happy and safe decisions.

We at Wishfish care deeply about you making the right decision for you. Avoid the dilemma and the chatter and, with a clear head, make the right decision for you. It can be hard to see the new shoots of growth within us all as our past may block them. Look hard for those green shoots of opportunity and possibility; talk it through to gain clarity and direction on where you head next and be in charge of your own personal development.
